Today, Monday, May 19, 2025, Kasdi Merbah University of Ouargla celebrated the 69th anniversary of National Student Day, which falls on May 19 of each year, in the main conference hall of the university's directorate.

The ceremony was attended by the Governor of Ouargla, Mr. Abdelghani Filali, along with military, security, and judicial authorities, representatives of the revolutionary family, and executive directors. The university president, distinguished professor Mohamed Taher Halilat, and his deputies, deans of faculties, secretaries-general of faculties, the director of the Higher Teachers' School, and representatives of the university's accredited student organizations, were also in attendance.
In his speech on the occasion, the university president praised this important historical milestone, noting that Algerian students were yesterday soldiers in the battle of liberation, and today they are soldiers in the battle of construction and progress. He emphasized the university's role in embracing the aspirations of young people and directing them toward serving the nation.
The director of the Higher Teachers' School also delivered a speech on the occasion, expressing his pride in the continuity of generations and the students' continued mission to defend national principles. He praised the level of awareness and maturity of today's students. A student representative, in turn, delivered a speech highlighting the spirit of national belonging among the university generation and their constant readiness to contribute to comprehensive development.
For his part, the representative of the revolutionary family recalled the struggles of students during the liberation revolution, calling on university students to preserve historical integrity and continue to defend national sovereignty through diligence, knowledge, and innovation.



The event featured a variety of performances, including a simulation of students joining the ranks of the National People's Army, a display of innovative projects awarded the "Label" label, and honoring students and university clubs that won national scientific, cultural, and sports competitions, as well as active student organizations.
