University of Kasdi Merbah, Ouargla, participates in an international forum on energy and sustainable development in Russia.

As part of its international outreach and strengthening of academic cooperation, the University of Kasdi Merbah, Ouargla, participated in the international conference entitled:
"International Integration of Universities and the Energy-Fuel Sector: Pathways to Sustainable Development," which was held on May 21, 2025, at the State University of Petroleum Technology in Ouargla, on the sidelines of the International Petroleum and Gas Industries Exhibition.
The university's director, **Distinguished Professor Dr. Mohamed Taher Halilat**, delivered an official speech on behalf of Algeria. He highlighted Algeria's strategic position in the energy sector and the scientific and research role played by the University of Ouargla in training and innovation, particularly in the fields of shale gas, fossil hydrogen, and biogas. He also emphasized the university's readiness to consolidate new academic partnerships, particularly with the University of Ouargla and the institutions attending the conference.
Professor Dr. Obeidi Saad, from the University of Kasdi Merbah, Ouargla, also participated in the conference with a valuable scientific presentation entitled:
"Oil and Gas Production in Algeria." He provided a comprehensive overview of the state of the petroleum industry in Algeria and the associated challenges and opportunities.
This participation falls within the framework of the university's vision to enhance its international presence and link scientific research to issues of sustainable development in southern Algeria and globally.
The University Vice-Directorate for Pedagogy holds an evaluation meeting with student representatives active in the pedagogical process.

As part of efforts to improve the quality of education and training, and in implementation of the pedagogical performance improvement plan, the University Vice-Rectorate for Pedagogy held a coordination meeting on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, in the university directorate's conference room. The meeting was chaired by Professor Abdelfattah Abi Miloud, Vice-Rector for Pedagogy.
The meeting was attended by student representatives active in pedagogical affairs from various university clubs and student organizations, along with officials from the Digital Center for People of Determination, the Activities Officer for the Faculty of Mathematics and Material Sciences, and the Activities Officer at the Institute of Technology.
During the meeting, a comprehensive presentation was given on the progress of pedagogical activities during the 2024/2025 academic year. A discussion was also opened for students to raise their concerns and observations, with the aim of identifying shortcomings and working to address them.
Regional study day on specialized commercial courts
The conference hall of the Lental Palace Hotel in Ouargla hosted, on the morning of Tuesday, May 20, 2025, the activities of the regional study day on "Specialized Commercial Courts", organized jointly by the Ouargla Judicial Council and the Ouargla Lawyers Organization, with the University of Kasdi Merbah Ouargla and the University of Continuing Education - Ouargla Center, under the supervision of the Ministry of Justice.



The event was attended by a prominent number of judicial experts, specialists, and academics, including the heads of the judicial councils of the provinces of Ouargla, Biskra, El Oued, and Ghardaia. The event also featured the Attorney General of the Ouargla Judicial Council, the President of the Ouargla Court, the President of the Ouargla Bar Association, and the Director of the University of Continuing Education - Ouargla Center. It also featured security and military authorities and lawyers from various provinces.
In his speech on behalf of the President of the University of Kasdi Merbah, Ouargla, Professor Mohamed Taher Halilat, Professor Kadri Mahdi, Vice President of External Relations and Cooperation, highlighted the university's commitment to keeping pace with the economic and legislative transformations taking place in the country. He emphasized the importance of partnerships between the university and justice institutions in promoting legal research and developing the judicial system, particularly in the field of specialized commercial justice.
The first academic session was chaired by Professor Dr. Zarqoun Nour Eddine from the University of Kasdi Merbah, Ouargla. The presentations addressed several practical and legal issues related to the jurisdiction of specialized commercial courts and ways to expand their role in serving the economic environment.
Among the notable contributions, Professor Dr. Zarqat Issa, a professor at the Faculty of Law at the University of Ouargla, presented an in-depth presentation entitled "The Distribution of Jurisdiction between the Specialized Commercial Court and the Commercial Division." He addressed the impact of this division on the effectiveness of justice and the protection of litigants' rights.
The study day featured extensive participation via videoconference by the presidents of the chambers of commerce from several judicial councils, including Algiers, Constantine, and Ouargla. In addition, distinguished contributions were made by the presidents of the commercial courts in Ouargla and Tamanrasset.
The meeting featured open discussions, where knowledge exchange took place between specialists in the field, lawyers, and university professors, in an effort to enhance judicial efficiency.
The study day concluded with a ceremony honoring the participants and organizers, in appreciation of their efforts in making this scientific and judicial event a success, which once again established the active presence of the University of Kasdi Merbah Ouargla in the academic and legal arena.
Kasdi Merbah University in Ouargla celebrates the 69th anniversary of National Student Day on May 19.
Today, Monday, May 19, 2025, Kasdi Merbah University of Ouargla celebrated the 69th anniversary of National Student Day, which falls on May 19 of each year, in the main conference hall of the university's directorate.

The ceremony was attended by the Governor of Ouargla, Mr. Abdelghani Filali, along with military, security, and judicial authorities, representatives of the revolutionary family, and executive directors. The university president, distinguished professor Mohamed Taher Halilat, and his deputies, deans of faculties, secretaries-general of faculties, the director of the Higher Teachers' School, and representatives of the university's accredited student organizations, were also in attendance.
In his speech on the occasion, the university president praised this important historical milestone, noting that Algerian students were yesterday soldiers in the battle of liberation, and today they are soldiers in the battle of construction and progress. He emphasized the university's role in embracing the aspirations of young people and directing them toward serving the nation.
The director of the Higher Teachers' School also delivered a speech on the occasion, expressing his pride in the continuity of generations and the students' continued mission to defend national principles. He praised the level of awareness and maturity of today's students. A student representative, in turn, delivered a speech highlighting the spirit of national belonging among the university generation and their constant readiness to contribute to comprehensive development.
For his part, the representative of the revolutionary family recalled the struggles of students during the liberation revolution, calling on university students to preserve historical integrity and continue to defend national sovereignty through diligence, knowledge, and innovation.



The event featured a variety of performances, including a simulation of students joining the ranks of the National People's Army, a display of innovative projects awarded the "Label" label, and honoring students and university clubs that won national scientific, cultural, and sports competitions, as well as active student organizations.



Holding the extraordinary session of the University's Scientific Council

On Sunday, May 18, 2025, the University President, Professor Mohamed Taher Halilat, chaired an extraordinary session of the University's Scientific Council in the meeting room of the University Directorate. The session was attended by members of the University's Scientific Council. A number of topics were discussed during this session, including:
- Study of pedagogical files.
- Approval of the heads of the people's field teams.
University of Ouargla ranked third nationally in the field of artificial intelligence.

The champions of Ouargla University achieved it, taking third place nationally in the field of artificial intelligence at the finals of the National Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence and Programming, held in Algiers on Thursday, May 15, 2025.

The National Higher School of Artificial Intelligence in Algiers hosted the finals of the National Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence and Programming on Thursday, May 15, 2025. The first edition of the Olympiad consisted of three stages, with student teams competing at the local, regional, and finally national levels. Conclusion of the scientific training days on "Photovoltaic Systems and Renewable Energy Potential in Algeria and Tunisia"
Today, Wednesday, May 14, 2025, the scientific training days on "Photovoltaic Systems and Renewable Energy Potential in Algeria and Tunisia" concluded. These days were organized by the University of Kasdi Merbah, Ouargla, in collaboration with the University of Sfax, Tunisia.
The second day of the event featured a valuable lecture by Dr. Tati Fathallah, who discussed the applications of artificial intelligence in the field of renewable energy, highlighting the prospects of this specialization in supporting the energy transition.
The University of Sfax delegation, accompanied by professors from the University of Ouargla and a number of students, also made a scientific field visit to the ZARGOUNE ENERGY factory, where they were briefed, accompanied by factory engineers, on the various stages of solar panel manufacturing.
At the conclusion of the program, the Tunisian university delegation was received in an official session by the university's president, Professor Mohamed Taher Halilat, in the presence of the vice presidents. The Director chaired a meeting during which a presentation was given on the International Master's in Renewable Energy. Certificates were also distributed to the students participating in this distinguished scientific experience. The professors supervising the training course were also honored on this occasion, in recognition of their efforts and valuable contributions to the success of this scientific event.
