On Saturday, June 14, 2025, the University of Ouargla hosted the fourth edition of the Regional Spelling Bee competition in the Visual Arts Hall of the University Directorate. The event was held in an atmosphere filled with enthusiasm and joy, with the distinguished participation of students between the ages of 9 and 23.
The participants shone on stage and impressed the audience with their English spelling skills, amidst applause and great encouragement!
Congratulations to the winners, thanks to all the participants, and a huge salute to the wonderful jury, Professor #Halima_Ben_Zoukh and Dr. #Jaloul_Bourhala.

Today, Kasdi Merbah University in Ouargla welcomed Professor Ourania Tzoraki from the University of the Aegean in Greece.
Professor Ourania, a specialist in environmental sciences and water resources management, will oversee a work program for doctoral students and researchers in the university's research laboratories during her visit. This program includes scientific meetings and specialized workshops to exchange experiences and enhance competencies.

Coordination meeting to follow up on improvement according to the requirements of the ISO 9001:2015 standard
On Monday morning, June 9, 2025, a coordination meeting was held, chaired by the university's president, distinguished professor Mohamed Taher Halilat, to follow up on corrective actions to ensure continuous improvement and compliance with the requirements of the ISO 9001:2015 standard.

The meeting was attended by the university's vice presidents, the secretary-general, the head of the quality assurance unit, the head of the office, the branch directors, and the heads of departments within the university's directorate.
The meeting aimed to follow up on the implementation of the post-certification action plan, with the aim of strengthening the quality management system, with a focus on updating documents, tracking performance indicators, and intensifying internal training efforts.
This step is essential for transitioning from a culture of compliance to a culture of improvement.



The University Council of Directors held its regular session
On Monday, June 2, 2025, a meeting was held in the meeting hall of the University Directorate, chaired by the University Director, the distinguished Professor Mohamed Taher Halilat, in the presence of the members of the University Directorate Council. A number of topics were discussed in this meeting, which were as follows:

Evaluation of the pedagogical process for the second semester of the 2024/2025 academic year (exams, deliberations).
- Student projects falling within the scope of Ministerial Resolution 1275 (patent, startup).
- Discussion of the laboratory and research budget.

A scientific symposium on the children of Gaza entitled: "Children's Right to Play, Learn, Live, and Dream"
This morning, Sunday, June 1, 2025, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Kasdi Merbah University, Ouargla, in collaboration with the Laboratory of Neuropsychology and Socio-Emotional Cognitive Disorders, organized a scientific symposium entitled: "From Algeria to the Children of Gaza... Children's Right to Live, Learn, Play, and Dream." The symposium was held in the discussion hall. The symposium was attended by the Deputy Director in charge of Pedagogy as symposium moderator and the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences as symposium chair.
The symposium aimed to analyze the psychological and social effects of aggression and trauma on children in Gaza, discuss effective psychological and social interventions to support them, propose sustainable support mechanisms with the participation of academic and humanitarian institutions, and review successful experiences in this field.
The symposium addressed several legal, media, and psychological themes and approaches, as well as social and educational approaches to the conflict affecting children. It also explored possible interventions to ensure a better future for children in Gaza.
The symposium featured a group of distinguished professors, specialists, and academic experts, including Professor Dr. Najat Al-Dawi, who addressed international legal protection for children – using the Gaza Strip as a model, and Professor Dr. Fadhila Toumi, who discussed the image of Gaza's children in Arab and Western media.
Dr. Zainab Shanouf, Dr. Abdullah Joudi, and Dr. Fatima Zahra Ben Mujahid also delivered valuable contributions, discussing the psychological and social effects of war on children.



A strategic partnership between the University of Ouargla and the University of Grozny: promising prospects for training and research.
At the conclusion of a high-level working visit led by a delegation from the University of Kasdi Merbah – Ouargla to the University of Grozny in the Chechen Republic, Russian Federation, a final meeting was held in the presence of the Rector of the University of Grozny and a number of its officials, along with partners from the energy sector.
This visit culminated in the conclusion of important preliminary agreements paving the way for the launch of advanced academic and scientific cooperation, including:
- Developing joint international master's programs in the fields of:
- Launching applied research projects of common interest, addressing current scientific and industrial challenges.
- Working on initiatives in the field of industrial innovation and supporting start-ups, by creating a cooperative environment that allows for technology transfer and encourages university entrepreneurship.
