His Excellency the Ambassador of the Russian Federation, Mr. Alexey Solomatin, on an Official Visit to the University of Ouargla

On the morning of April 5, 2026, the University of Ouargla had the honor of welcoming His Excellency the Ambassador of the Russian Federation, Mr. Alexey Solomatin, on an official visit as part of efforts to strengthen academic and cultural cooperation between Algeria and Russia, and to develop partnerships in the fields of higher education and scientific research.

The Ambassador and his accompanying delegation were received by the University Rector, accompanied by the Vice-Rector in charge of External Relations and Cooperation, along with several university officials. This reception reflected the importance the university places on expanding its international openness and strengthening its global partnerships.

During the visit, bilateral meetings were held, providing an opportunity for both parties to exchange views on ways to enhance joint cooperation, particularly in the areas of student and faculty exchange, the launch of joint research projects, and the promotion of training and academic supervision opportunities.

The visit was marked by the inauguration of the “Russian Corner” within the university campus, a cultural and scientific space aimed at promoting Russian culture, language, and history, while also providing academic resources and scientific documentation for students and researchers. This initiative is expected to serve as a platform for fostering cultural exchange and organizing joint scientific events and study days between the two sides.

At the conclusion of the visit, His Excellency the Ambassador signed the university’s guestbook and emphasized the importance of such initiatives in strengthening bilateral relations and building bridges of communication between Algerian and Russian universities. He also highlighted their role in enhancing scientific and academic cooperation and opening new horizons for students and researchers in both countries.
