The Algerian Academy of Sciences and Technologies is launching a call for nominations for the Academy's Grand Prize. This award aims to honor talents and deserving individuals in the field of science and technology in Algeria. For the 2024 edition, the Academy has chosen to encourage talented young researchers who contribute significantly to the scientific and technological progress of our country.

Eligible candidates are Algerian nationals, aged 40 or younger on December 31, 2024, who have completed their work in Algeria. Applications are submitted via the link https://prixacademie.aast.dz

Today, Tuesday, July 2, 2024, the Minister of Knowledge Economy, Emerging Enterprises and Micro-enterprises, Mr. Yassine Walid, supervised the inauguration of the Pole of Excellence at the Artificial Intelligence Center at the University of Ouargla. This launch comes in cooperation with Shalom Bargi (SLB) and the INCUBE ME business incubator with an African dimension.
The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of all the local authorities represented by the governor of the state of Ouargla, accompanied by the security and military authorities, in addition to the university’s rector, Professor Mohamed Al-Taher Hulilat, his deputies, the deans of the colleges, the director of the Shalom Bargi Company (SLB), the company’s executives, and representatives of the INCUBE ME business incubator, along with all of Representative of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, former Ambassador Mujahid Muhammad Khaladi as guest of honor, and university administrators.
The Pole of Excellence aims to be a leading center in the energy field, especially in the field of energy transition. The center will provide a platform for institutions and emerging ideas to provide innovative solutions in various fields, in addition to accompanying entrepreneurs from the idea stage to the implementation stage.
It is the first business incubator in southern Algeria, designed according to international standards, offering specially designed programmes, advanced training, and various activities, aiming to enhance inclusion in the dynamic of moving towards employment. It also aims to create a national alternative in the medium and long term in terms of content, products, services and technologies currently used in the field of oil and energy.

For the second day in a row, the process of delivering final certificates to bachelor’s degree graduates for all majors in both departments continues: the Department of Applied Engineering and the Department of Mining, for the academic year 2023-2024.

This morning, Monday, July 1, 2024, at the University of Ouargla, at the meeting room level, a joint cooperation agreement was signed between the University of Kasdi-Merbah Ouargla and the National Foundation for Exploration, ENAFOR.
The signing ceremony took place in the presence of the Director General of the National Exploration Corporation, Mr. Ben Nizar Muhammad, and the institution’s executives, along with the University Rector, Professor Muhammad Al-Taher Hulailat, the President of the Bureau, the Deputy Directors, and the deans of the Faculty of Hydrocarbons and Applied Sciences, the Faculty of Mathematics and Material Sciences, the Faculty of Modern Technologies and the Institute of Technology. Today, Wednesday, June 26, 2024, the Grand Conference Hall of the Directorate of Kasdi-Merbah University of Ouargla hosted a ceremony honoring outstanding students for the academic year 2023/2024.
The ceremony witnessed the presence of the University Director, Professor Muhammad Al-Tahir Hulailat, along with the local authorities represented by the state governor, Mr. Abdul-Ghani Filali, the security and military authorities, the executive directors, and representatives of institutions and bodies in various sectors, in addition to the Secretary-General of the university and the university family.
During the ceremony, 62 male and female students from various majors were honored in recognition of their academic excellence and diligence during the university year. The honored students were distributed among 32 male and female students at the bachelor’s level and 30 male and female students at the master’s level.
The ceremony also included honoring special categories of students, namely 08 students with disabilities, as well as 05 foreign students, some scientific clubs active in the field of geology and engineering methods, and students who obtained the “Lapal” mark.
University Rector, Professor Muhammad Al-Tahir Hulailat, gave a speech on the occasion in which he praised the efforts of the outstanding students, and stressed the importance of science and knowledge in building and advancing society. He also thanked all the university professors and its administration for their efforts to provide the best ways for students to acquire education and knowledge.
A representative of the honored students also gave a speech in which he expressed his happiness and pride in honoring his colleagues, and called on all students to exert more effort and perseverance to achieve success and excellence.
The state governor gave a speech in which he congratulated the outstanding students on their achievements, and urged them to continue their excellence and creativity. He also stressed the Algerian state's interest in higher education, and called for the need to develop and modernize it to keep pace with global developments.
The ceremony concluded with the state governor’s announcement of the conclusion of the 2023/2024 academic year.

On Tuesday, June 25, 2024, the University of Kasdi Merbah Ouargla organized an evaluation workshop for pedagogical training for the benefit of newly employed research professors at the Faculty of Economic Sciences, Commercial Sciences, and Management Sciences, supervised by the coordinator of the Pedagogical Accompaniment Cell, Professor Shawki Mammadi, and in the presence of Professor Mohamed Ramzi Sayagh, Director of the Office, representing the Director of the Office. University Professor Muhammad Al-Taher Hulailat. The occasion was also attended by a number of professors who supervised the framing of the training processes and pedagogical accompaniment of the professors through lectures and workshops throughout the year, starting from September 11, 2023, until March 5, 2024.
This was followed by a closing ceremony held by the professors in honor of their supervisors. In his speech, their representative highlighted the extent to which they benefited from this pedagogical training, thanking everyone who contributed to it and carried it out, hoping that they would have opportunities for academic meeting again to exchange ideas and experiences, and improve performance, especially since this training included professors. The university, and the professors of the Higher School of Employees during the month of September 2023, and the meeting concluded with the distribution of some honorary certificates to the supervising professors.
